Tangerine Technologies launches OligoBuyer

OligoBuyer encompasses a new standard of product configuration technology in a buyside application for building, pricing and purchasing oligonucleotides from multiple suppliers.

"The golden age of genetic research in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries is just beginning, and oligos and other genetic materials are fueling the engine of development," said Todd Johnson, Founder and CEO of Tangerine. "However, these highly customisable, made-to-order products are very inefficient to procure. Researchers spend hours manually searching for, specifying and buying these products, with enormous potential for error."

The OligoBuyer is designed to provide researchers with the tools required to configure and order oligos electronically. By connecting to e-procurement solutions, the service brings these materials under the control of money-saving purchasing technology.

The system enables users to design oligos according to the capabilities of their organization's preferred suppliers. Tangerine's patent-pending technology is designed to allow for the specification of sequence, modifications, purification and scale in any order, and is able to update prices and available options as the configuration changes. The system is also capable of preventing configuration of an oligo that cannot be synthesized.

Once a researcher has configured an oligo and a vendor has been selected, an order is automatically placed and the transaction can be processed and tracked by any e-procurement or ERP system. The OligoBuyer system also allows for these purchases to be included in electronic demand analysis and planning.
