Compugen releases update of 2-D gel analysis software

The enhanced Z3 system is designed to accelerate 2-D analysis projects from months to days.

The enhanced Z3 system is designed to accelerate 2-D analysis projects from months to days.

The system employs image analysis algorithms that are designed to improve the accuracy and automate the alignment of two gels within seconds. In addition, analyzed images are displayed using a color overlay technology, enabling users to compare differential protein expression between normal and diseased tissues.

"In addition to significantly reducing the analysis time, the new version also introduces a unique feature which allows extracting comprehensive and accurate information from repeated experiments," said Amit Rubinfeld, Z3 Product Manager, Compugen.

According to Compugen, other features of the upgraded system include the capability to create one image from several gels of the same sample, allowing for a more accurate and robust analysis, an advanced protein annotation feature, and the ability to predict the PI and mass of protein components of the sample.

The new Z3 version supports Windows 2000, as well as Windows 98 and NT 4.0.
