Discus Analytics’ JointManClinical Population Health Tool wins ‘Customer Innovator Award’ at eyeforpharma Philadelphia Awards 2015

Philadelphia, PE - The JointMan® Clinical Population Health Tool developed by Discus Analytics overcame sophisticated competition from Onyx, IMS Health and Shire to win the ‘Most Valuable HCP or Healthcare Initiative’, one of the most competitive categories at the eyeforpharma Philadelphia Awards 2015.

The awards were announced last night, and were determined by a panel of industry leadership and patient representatives. Over 80 submissions from across North America were received.

The Discus Analytics project reduces the cost and burden of care on the patient by eliminating unnecessary treatments. Most interestingly, the project’s innovative structure has been designed to benefit a wide range of stakeholders. The data collected is opened up for future research, better treatment management improves the quality of life for patients and more efficient care delivery reduces costs for payers.

To date the project has focused on Rheumatic conditions, and gives healthcare professionals the tools to clinically track patients. Patients across the country contribute data that is anonymized into a central repository for researchers. This data is also used to track the effectiveness of treatment decisions allowing them to improve the management of an individual patient, or to collaborate with peers to develop new best practice.

Judges praised this thoughtful multi-faceted approach, with Mike Moran at GSK saying, “This was a very innovative project that appears to have a great deal of upside in the future for healthcare providers and patients alike coping with RA. Well done!”

The inaugural eyeforpharma Philadelphia Awards ceremony reflects eyeforpharma’s mission to make the pharmaceutical industry more open and valued by celebrating people and projects that are driving customer-centric innovation across North America. By putting a spotlight on those who are creating change, eyeforpharma hopes to catalyse the transition towards an industry that puts the patient first.

Karen Ferguson, WSMGMA Past-President, Discus Analytics, CEO was delighted and so honoured when collecting her award last night in Philadelphia.
