IDX releases Patient Online system

The Patient Online system can be customized to meet the individual demands of the user, with the communications function of the product designed to become an integral part of the customer's Web site. Connections to the program utilize 128-encryption and secure socket layer (SSL) to ensure privacy.

"Patient Online is more than a valuable tool, it's a new avenue for providers of healthcare that enables both the patient and the physician to stay better connected both inside and outside the doctor's office," said Roman Perun, Assistant Director of Information Systems at Duke University's Private Diagnostic Clinic. "Patients who are better connected to their providers ultimately feel better cared for, which leads to an increase in patient satisfaction."

The system is also designed to enable physicians to direct patients to approved medical information, therefore ensuring the exchange of information is accurate. In addition, there are future plans for the system to be integrated to allow patients to view their results online and to enter pre-exam information and medical histories, streamlining the patient-physician consultation process.

"In the Information Age, patients increasingly want to use the resources that have previously been available only by visiting a physician one-to-one," said James Crook, President and COO of IDX. "Patient Online enables increased patient access to vital information, while at the same time streamlining workflow for physicians and healthcare staff."
