The portal will be developed to target those with an interest in the pharmaceutical industry, including consumers, patient relatives, medical students, nursing staff and doctors. The aim of the portal is to enable LIF to provide its member companies with constantly updated pharmaceutical information.
Through the project, we are helping the pharmaceutical industry to efficiently co-ordinate its information to important target groups, said Johan Nyberg, Business Area Manager at AU-System.
AU-System and SandbergTrygg have carried out market surveys, technical feasibility studies and a requirements analysis to determine the specifications for the development of the portal.
We chose AU-System and SandbergTrygg because they were able to provide us with a total solution, said Ulf Edstedt, Managing Director of LIF. AU-System is a strong technology supplier and their expertise, combined with SandbergTrygg's impressive knowledge of market communications, makes them the ideal choice of supplier.
In a separate release, LIF announced that Excosoft, a provider of content management solutions, will provide its XML Client as a component of the planned Internet portal.
Information for the portal will be supplied from content editors at the 64 LIF member pharmaceutical companies using Excosoft's XML Client to create and edit XML documents. These companies include AstraZeneca, GlaxoWellcome, Johnson & Johnson, Pharmacia Upjohn and Procter and Gamble.
We chose the Excosoft XML Client as the authoring tool for the system because it had the functionality we needed and was much easier to use than any of the other XML editors we evaluated, said Britten Wennman, Business Unit Manager at AU-System.
