The Business and Competitive Intelligence functions in Pharma generally fly under the radar of noticeability to those looking at the industry, They generally remain in the shadow of the 'glory' sales, marketing and forecasting teams that spearhead each organisations strategy.
However, if you take a closer look, you will find that without BI and CI, the pharma industry simply could not exist as we know it today. The fundamental reason of how pharma act the way they do is based on the work of the intelligence functions. The sales strategy, CRM platform, regional investment of products to name but a few have come from what Business Intelligence sees and hears and then filters down through the appropriate channels.
So like in a game of poker you keep you're cards close to your chest to play the 'game', it would be more helpful if you knew what 'game' your opponenents were playing and I'm sure you wouldn't make a song and dance about that would you?
