DoubleTwist licenses genomic database to Max Planck Institute

"We were impressed with the level of annotation provided by DoubleTwist for its human and mouse databases, and were especially interested in gaining access to DoubleTwist's new Annotated Mouse Gene Index to advance our research in mouse genetics," said Peter Gruss, Director of the Department of Molecular Cell Biology at the Max Planck Institute of Biophysical Chemistry. "We believe DoubleTwist's unique data will provide an excellent complement to our other data resources."

"We are proud that the prestigious Max Planck Institute has selected DoubleTwist as a partner for its leading-edge genomic research," said Simon Tomlinson, General Manager of DoubleTwist Europe. "We look forward to working with the Institute to continue to provide valuable data designed to advance the Institute's rigorous scientific goals."

The DoubleTwist Annotated Human Genome Database is an annotated source of human genomic DNA sequences designed to facilitate gene characterization and target discovery by enabling scientists to discover novel genes, identify genetic polymorphisms, uncover novel features of genes and elucidate gene function.

In addition, the DoubleTwist Annotated Human and Mouse Gene Indices contains expressed gene sequences that have been computationally processed to provide functional characterizations and to highlight genetic polymorphisms, such as alternative splice forms. These annotations include gene expression profiles, cross-references to multiple scientific databases and information regarding protein similarities and family associations.
